Examples of these are quite rare. An oval silver plated draining stand with decorative piercing and standing on claw feet. Used to serve fish. Length 36 cms. Width 27 cms. Height 3 cms. Stamped on the top edge with Elkington Mason plate stamps for 1847.

Literature: A mazarine is an oval pierced plate which sits on a serving and is used to serve fish. The origin of the term mazarine is uncertain. They were made from the early years of the 18th century but examples of any date are not plentiful.
