An exceptional quality sterling silver top jar having a heavy crystal base with hobnail cutting. The shape has the clean features and straight lines typical of the Art Deco period. The top is engraved with a stylised monogram "RP" for R. Purbrick the original owner. Every feature is of the highest quality, even the screw mechanism is deep, crisp and expertly engineered. The bottle would have originally been part of an extensive set of art deco silver and cut glass gentleman's accessories in a leather travelling case for which the maker Asprey is particularly known for. Height 5 cms. Base diameter 5 cms. Fully stamped on the top with English silver hallmarks for London 1934. Maker Asprey, London.
