An exceptional quality 1930s sterling silver box of plain rectangular form with the clean features and straight lines typical of the Art Deco period. Made of excellent gauge silver and has a heavy, chunky feel. The top is engraved with a stylised monogram "RP" for R. Purbrick the original owner. The lid inside has the original gilding, the box is lined with brown velvet and still retains the brown velvet removable cover. Every feature is of the highest quality.

The box would have originally been part of an extensive set of art deco silver and cut glass accessories in a leather travelling case for which the maker Asprey is particularly known for.
