An exceptional quality sterling silver travelling clock comprising an 8 day watch which folds away into a solid silver box when not in use. The watch is Swiss made and has a seconds hand and an alarm; it can be detached from the silver box by unscrewing the retaining bezel on the front. The box is made of excellent gauge silver and has a heavy, chunky feel; the top is engraved with a stylised monogram "RP" for R. Purbrick the original owner. Every feature is of the highest quality. The clock would have originally been part of an extensive set of art deco silver and cut glass gentleman's accessories in a leather travelling case for which the maker Asprey is particularly known for. Height 14.5 cms when open, 2 cms when closed. Top measures 7.5 x 7.5 cms. London 1934. Maker Asprey, London.
