A very striking Victorian sterling silver sugar bowl of circular form with side handles, removable lid and a tall pedestal foot. With a sterling silver liner with original gilt interior. The decorative shell and scroll panels are fused together to create a very unusual pierced work design. A quality feature is the way the inner liner pegs into the sugar bowl retaining hole with the little pin to stop the liner moving. Total weight 739 grams, 23.7 troy ounces. Height 14.5 cms (bowl), 23 cms (total). Spread across handles 18 cms. Bowl London 1861 maker Joseph Angell. Inner liner London 1869 maker Hunt & Roskell.
