Venison Dishes  

4117. Antique Venison Dish and Cover.

A superb looking antique meat cover and carving base with engraved crests, monogram and gadroon borders. The dish cover has good coat of arms to both sides engraved within an inset silver shield. Length 46.5 cms, width 35 cms. Circa 1820. Old Sheffield plate. The carving base has a hot water jacket and integral tree and well for capturing the gravy juices. There is a monogram engraved to one side. Base 51 cms long (including handles), width 39 cms. Silver plated. Elkington date stamps for 1860. Overall height 23 cms.

A beautiful antique serving cover with a wide gadroon border, lovely lions head handle and engraved coat of arms to both sides. It stills retains the original silver shields. Height 24 cms. Length 39 cms. Width 31 cms. Circa 1810.

A decorative matching pair of Victorian oval dish covers with ribbed bodies, bead borders and engraved crests to the front centre. Large dome – 46 cms long, 35 cms wide, 27 cms high. Medium dome - 36 cms long, 28 cms wide, 22 cms high. Electroplated. Circa 1880.

A rare item and with fantastic quality engraving. A fine quality Georgian sterling silver lidded serving dish with double armorials to the lid, an owl finial and the base engraved with an owl crest. The crest “Nil Conscire Sibi” means “To have a conscience free from guilt”. Good weight 64 troy ounces. Diameter 28 cms. Height 15 cms. All pieces hallmarked for London 1809. By the highly sought after maker Paul Storr.
