2128. Antique Old Sheffield Plate Venison Dish by Matthew Boulton.

A fine Georgian old Sheffield plate covered meat dish with 2 carrying handles. The cover has Matthew Boulton makers marks inside and has silver shields to each side with an engraved coat of arms on one side and a motto on the other. The attractive carrying handle is in the form of a lion. The contemporary carving base has a hot water jacket and integral tree and well for capturing the gravy juices. Overall height 37 cms. Dome 51 cms long and 37 cms wide. Base 59 cms long (including handles) and 44 cms wide. Circa 1800.

3193. Set of 3 Victorian Decorative Meat Domes.

These make a very good show. One large antique serving cover with a matching pair of smaller sized domes. The decoration is particularly attractive with deep chased scrolls, flowers and foliate detail. Large size – 50 cms long, 37 cms wide. Smaller size – 37 cms long, 25.5 cms wide. Circa 1880. Electroplated.

A magnificent Victorian sterling silver soup tureen with ornamental handles and armorial detail to both sides. Most imposing, this oval tureen is beautifully decorated with fruit and foliate motifs and has a figural lid finial. Complete with fitted liner (silver plated). Weight 98 troy ounces. Length 46 cms (across handles). Width 25 cms. Edinburgh 1876.

2018. Antique Soup Tureen by Mathew Boulton.

A very fine antique soup tureen made of old Sheffield plate by the famous maker Mathew Boulton. In excellent condition this tureen is of a most unusual and highly desirable fan shape. The applied mounts are very striking and in crisp original condition. The lid bears a crest of a billy goat and is marked inside with the Mathew Boulton double star mark. Width 35 cms. Height 26 cms. Circa 1810.

1165: Victorian Revolving Lid Serving Dish
This classic 19th century serving dish in silver plate has attractive decoration to the lid and stylish shaped feet. The lid revolves to reveal the basin inside complete with 2 shallow detachable liners (I pierced drainer and 1 solid dish). These versatile dishes were traditionally used to serve breakfast (eg. bacon and eggs, scrambled eggs, kedgeree etc) but nowadays are bought for many diverse reasons and particularly for serving muffins.
