6799. Set of 4 Georgian Silver Sauce Tureens

An excellent quality set of antique sterling silver sauce tureens with matching lids. Oval boat shape with pedestal foot and gadroon borders. Extremely good weight. Mounted to each side with an engraved armorial within an oval cartouche. The lids are double crested. Weight 3221 grams, 103.5 troy ounces. Height 13 cms. Spread 23 cms. London 1781. Maker Daniel Smith and Robert Sharp.

6717. Pair of Georgian Silver Sauce Tureens with the Royal Windsor Coat of Arms

An exceptionally fine pair of antique sterling silver sauce tureens of oval form on shaped claw feet. The quality and gauge of silver needs to be seen to be believed. Each tureen is decorated with broad shell and gadroon borders and the shell motif is repeated on the handles and feet. Engraved to both sides of each tureen there is a large hand engraved armorial and to each top there’s a double engraved crest. Motto “Je me fie en dieu”. These are the arms of the Windsor family, the royal house of Great Britain. Weight 2599 grams, 83.5 troy ounces. Height 15.5 cms. Spread 24 cms. Length 19 cms. Width 13.5 cms. The lids are numbered 2 and 3, so they are part of a larger set, London 1811. Maker Thomas Robins, known for his good quality dinner wares.

An excellent quality pair of antique silver sauce jugs on fixed stands. Very attractive decoration and crisp detail. With a monogram engraved both sides of the base. Good gauge silver. 950 grade silver. Weight 1686 grams, 54.2 troy ounces. French silver marks. Late 19th century.

6355. George III Silver Sauce Tureen

A lovely antique sterling silver sauce tureen of shaped rectangular form having plain styling, gadroon border and claw feet. With nicely figured lions mask side handles. To the front and lid there is a double crest, beautifully engraved, of an elephant and unicorn. Weight 531 grams, 17 troy ounces. Height 11.5 cms. Length 15 cms. Width 10 cms. London 1816. Maker Emes & Barnard.

An elegant pair of antique sterling silver sauce tureens with matching covers. Classic Adam style shape with simple plain vase shape design with spreading handles, bead borders, and cast urn lid finial. Weight 1286 grams, 41.3 troy ounces. Height 15 cms (to top of handle). Spread 23.25 cms. Inside dimensions of tureen – length 17 cms, width 11.5 cms. London 1783/4. Maker Andrew Fogelberg and Stephen Gilbert.

A beautiful antique sterling silver tureen with matching cover complete with original carrying case. Classical oval vase shape with swept handles, bead borders, and mounted with applied swags and ribbons. Engraved crest to lid and body. The other side with a fox hunting presentation inscription. Weight 2437 grams, 78.3 troy ounces. Height 29 cms. Spread 41 cms. Top opening 30 x 22 cms. London 1876. Maker Martin and Hall.

5219. Georgian Silver Soup Tureen

A handsome antique sterling silver soup tureen in the Adam style. Classic boat shape with gadroon borders and an imposing crown finial. To both sides there is a fine armorial engraving and the lion crest is repeated on the lid. Weight 2680 grams, 86 troy ounces. Height 26 cms. Spread 44 cms. Width 33.5 cms. Depth 21 cms. London 1791. Maker James Young whose work is described by Grimwade as being of elegant neoclassical design and fine finish.
