6029. Antique Lisbon Silver Charger

A magnificent antique Portuguese silver charger beautifully decorated with wriggle work panels of flowers and foliage around the outside and having a central panel with a dog surrounded by a ram, a boar and a rabbit. Weight 649 grams, 20.8 troy ounces. Diameter 42 cms. Stamped on the outer edge with the Portuguese makers mark “EDC”. Lisbon 1750-75.

6134. Rare Charles II Silver Plate

A fine example of early English silver having excellent patina and very clear hallmarks to the front of the plate. Of plain, circular shape the plate has a wide border with chased reeded edge. There are prick mark initials to both sides and a date of 1665. Weight 334 grams, 10.7 troy ounces. Diameter 24.25 cms. London 1664. Makers mark “H” in a heart.

5254. Georgian Oval Platter by Benjamin Smith

An outstanding item by the highly regarded Benjamin Smith. This antique sterling silver serving dish has a crisp cast border with deep relief flower and leaf decoration. Engraved to each side there is a fine armorial, the motto reading “fac et spera” which means “do and hope”. Weighing 2088 grams (67 troy ounces) this silver platter is exceptionally heavy and feels very good in the hand. Length 42 cms. Width 32 cms. London 1820. Maker Benjamin Smith.
