5879. Large Antique Continental Silver Basket

A tall and shapely antique German silver basket with swing handle and original blue glass liner. Perfect for fruit or flowers. Decorated all over with ornate pierced work, flowers and fruit, and birds with outstretched wings. To the front and back there is a very pretty central decoration of children playing with flowers in a meadow. Weight 932 grams, 30 troy ounces. Height 29 cms, 44 cms (to top of handle). Top measures 26 x 19.5 cms. Stamped in the base with German silver marks, crown and moon, 800 grade. German. Circa 1900.
