5877. George I Silver Lidded Tankard

An unusual small size antique silver tankard with hinged lid. Britannia standard silver. Quirky handle with tall thumb piece, large knuckled hinge and geometric tail piece at the bottom. Weight 542 grams, 17.4 troy ounces. Height (to top of thumb piece) 15.5 cms. Diameter – base 11 cms, top 10.5 cms. London 1715. Maker Robert Timbrell and Joseph Bell I. Fully marked inside lid and on side of body.
