5847. Antique William III Silver Candlesticks

A very rare pair of early antique sterling silver candlesticks dating from the end of the 1600s. These very fine candlesticks stand on square bases with canted corners and the gadroon borders are also repeated on the circular reeded columns. Fixed circular candle sconces. Excellent gauge silver. Weight 894 grams, 28.7 troy ounces. Height 23 cms. Base diameter 13.75 cms. London 1699. Maker William Denny and John Backe. Excellent condition.

Condition. Excellent, particularly considering their age. A few very small dinks on the columns. Good patina. Everything is just as one would wish for in a good early pair of candlesticks.
