5481. Antique Silver Mote Spoon

A collectors item commonly thought to be an early form of tea strainer. The spiked end can clear tea leaf blockages from the grill inside the teapot. This pretty little antique silver spoon has a pierced work bowl and slim tapering handle. Underneath the handle there is the remains of a silver stamp, possibly the lion. Circa 1760.
