A lovely quality presentation trophy in sterling silver mounted on a hardwood plinth. Of good size and weight. Height 42 cms (with cover), 37 cms (without cover). Total height including base 53 cms. Diameter at top of cup 20.5 cms. Spread across handles 34.5 cms. Weight of silver 112 troy ounces approx. London 1909. Made by Mappin and Webb.

3149. Antique Guernsey Silver Christening Cup.

A real collector’s piece. This rare little sterling silver cup is a very fine example of Channel Islands silver and is inscribed “GUERNSEY” to one side (rubbed) and “TL PTR 1780” to the other. Weight 2.5 troy ounces approx. Height 6.5 cms. Diameter of top 8 cms. Made in Guernsey, it is overstamped ID for Jean Pierre du Port on London hallmarks for 1779. See accompanying documentation.

1912. Large George II Silver Irish 2 Handled Cup.

A fantastic quality and unusually large sized antique sterling silver cup with all over chased decoration of flowers, leaves and birds. Weight 46 troy ounces. Height 22 cms. Diameter 16.5 cms. Width (across the handles) 30 cms. Made in Dublin by William Williamson. Circa 1747.

Stirrup Cup  
Silver Wager Cup

The idea is to drink the contents of the large cup (the lady’s skirt) without spilling the drink inside the small cup. This highly collectible silver double drinking vessel is also known as a marriage cup. The bride would drink from the small cup, the groom from the large cup.

4259. Antique Dutch Silver Windmill Wager Cup

A lovely continental silver goblet mounted with a windmill and whistle. When you blow the whistle the sails turn round and the trick is to drink the contents of the goblet before the sails stop turning. Dutch silver marks. Circa 1920.

3832. Antique Continental Silver Chalice.

An early solid silver cup with baluster stem and ornamental base. The bowl with original gilded interior and gilt traces to the exterior. Good original condition. Weight 14 troy ounces (just under). Height 26 cms. Diameter of top 9.25 cms, base 13.5 cms. Continental silver hallmarks – 1 on the bowl and 2 on the base. Circa 1740.

A fine piece of early English silver, this antique chalice and paten dates back to the reign of Charles I. The condition is remarkable for its age and the hallmarks on both pieces are sharp and clear. Of good weight – 11 troy ounces in total. Chalice – Height 15.5 cms, Diameter 10 cms.
