3200. Antique Silver Cup and Cover.

Of stunning quality, this sterling trophy is of both good size and weight. The Art Nouveau decoration is of lily pad leaf and flower designs on the cover and lower body, a theme which continues on the double curved handles. The cup retains its original gilding to the centre. Weight 76 troy ounces. Height 25.5/36 cms. Diameter of top of cup 19.5 cms.

3149. Antique Guernsey Silver Christening Cup.

A real collector’s piece. This rare little sterling silver cup is a very fine example of Channel Islands silver and is inscribed “GUERNSEY” to one side (rubbed) and “TL PTR 1780” to the other. Weight 2.5 troy ounces approx. Height 6.5 cms. Diameter of top 8 cms. Made in Guernsey, it is overstamped ID for Jean Pierre du Port on London hallmarks for 1779. See accompanying documentation.

3030. Georgian Silver Covered Punch Cup and Ladle.

The quality and workmanship of this antique sterling silver wine cup ensemble need to be seen in real life. Of graceful proportions, and large enough to hold a wine bottle if desired, the cup is ornamented with a deep band of cast vine leaf and grape detail which is echoed in the delightful finial on top. The 2 double rope handles are delicately intertwined culminating in acanthus leaf mounts above a pedestal foot. The punch ladle is equally fine with similar decoration to both sides. All 3 pieces with matching silver marks. Approx weight in troy ounces – cup and cover 79 ozs, ladle 5 ozs. Height 30 cms. London 1820. By William Elliott.

2001. Victorian Silver 2 Handled Cup and Cover.

A magnificent antique sterling silver covered cup with double curved side handles and matching lid surmounted by a figure of a horse. Perfect for use as a wine cooler this large cup is profusely decorated with grapes and vine leaves, the lower body being chased with flowers and leaves, and all standing on a fine quality shell decorated pedestal foot. No inscription. Height 31 cms (41 cms to top). Diameter 19.5 cms. Width across handles 29 cms. Weight 76 troy ounces. Sheffield 1863. Maker Roberts & Belk.

3242. Antique Continental Silver Fox Stirrup Cup.

A good antique silver stirrup cup with a beautifully modelled fox’s head and engraved hunting scenes around the body. Original gilt interior. Weight over 6 troy ounces. Height 14 cms. Continental silver marks and English import marks for London 1913. By Berthold Muller.

Silver Wager Cup

The idea is to drink the contents of the large cup (the lady’s skirt) without spilling the drink inside the small cup. This highly collectible silver double drinking vessel is also known as a marriage cup. The bride would drink from the small cup, the groom from the large cup.

This 19th century silver marriage cup is of amazing size and weight, and the quality of the decoration is superb. Height 38 cms. Weight 36 troy ounces. Partial German silver hallmarks. Circa 1860.

3219. Charles I Silver Chalice and Paten.

A fine piece of early English silver, this antique chalice and paten dates back to the reign of Charles I. The condition is remarkable for its age and the hallmarks on both pieces are sharp and clear. Of good weight – 11 troy ounces in total. Chalice – Height 15.5 cms, Diameter 10 cms. Paten – Height 2 cms, Diameter 11.5 cms. London 1640. Maker RP (Jacksons Page 119).

3053. Tall George I Silver Chalice and Cover.

A rare antique covered sterling silver goblet and cover with the simple styling typical of the period. Not only is it unusual to retain the original lid with matching silver marks but the top can also be used in reverse as a footed salver. Weight 17 troy ounces. Height 26 cms. Diameter of top 12 cms.
