5630. Large Antique Japanese Silver Dragon Bowl
Very large and impressive. A magnificent decorative lot. An antique Japanese silver bowl with 10 sides and having a large undulating dragon mounted on the outside with fantastic quality detail and hammered finish. Double skinned. Weight 2514 grams, 80.8 troy ounces. Height 14 cms. Diameter 30 cms. Stamped underneath with the Japanese character mark “jungin” meaning “pure silver”. Used primarily during the Meiji period (1868-1912) and for a short period after. Circa 1900.

A delightful after dinner conversation piece. A charming little sterling silver tractor with movable wheels and detachable back door. To use as a table lighter just fill the well with oil and put the wick in the chimney. The back compartment, which is gilded inside, can be used for matches, cigarettes, small cigars etc. Weight 98 grams, 3.1 troy ounces. Length 9 cms. Width 3.5 cms (4.5 cms including wheels). A rare antique boxed condiment set in the form of Punch and his dog Toby. Very fine quality silver plate. The Punch mustard pot has its original liner. The pair of Toby peppers have a gilt finish to the hat and ruffle. Dimensions – Punch height 11.5 cms, pepper height 8 cms, spoon length 8.5 cms. Spoon unmarked. The other 4 pieces have a Victorian registration for 1877.

A very unusual smoking combo in the form of a miniature revolving piano stool. The top cushion opens to reveal 2 compartments for snuff and matches, the base can be used as an ashtray, and where the three legs meet there is a cigar cutter which is operated by revolving the top cushion. Invented by A.E Bell. Circa 1890.

A super working model of a veteran car containing a match box/striker and cigar/cigarette box. All 4 wheels turn and the steering wheel changes direction. The front bonnet is topped with a match striker and the hinged lid opens to reveal the match box. The open rear of the car can contain cigars or cigarettes. A good size. Length 22 cms. Attractive honey dish in the form of a honey bee. The wings lift to reveal the honey held in the glass body. Electroplated. These are usually made by Mappin and Webb with full marks to the base of the wings and body. Circa 1920.
