6608. Antique Silver Plated Ear Trumpet by Rein

A ‘London Dome’ Ear trumpet by Rein dating from the mid 19th century. The dome is made from silver plated brass with the original ivory ear piece and prettily shaped cut work grille. Height 9 cms (11.5 cms to top of ear piece). Diameter 5.75 cms. Beautifully hand engraved all over and signed F C REIN Inventor 108 Strand London. Circa 1860.

A set of 8 sterling silver shooting place finders or butt markers nicely modelled in the shape of a shotgun. The guns are numbered from 1-8 and there is a green fabric carrying case. Each shooter takes their turn to draw a gun and the revealed number shows the actual shooting position (butt) that they will use for the first drive. Length 10 cms. Total weight 127 grams, 4 troy ounces. Silver hallmarks for Birmingham. Circa 1990. Maker MS.

A very interesting antique sterling silver horn of plain style with a decorative embossed collar with flower and leaf ornament. 6391. Antique Silver Lancet Case with Thumb Lancets

An antique sterling silver flip top four partition carrying case fitted with a set of four antique bloodletting lancets. These instruments are known as thumb lancets due to the manner in which they were held and pushed into the blood vessel. Tortoiseshell guards protect the blades. Unmarked silver. Circa 1790.

6079. Rare Antique Irish Silver Scribes Set

An extremely interesting piece of Irish history. A silver pen and ink case in the form of a ruler, engraved on one side with the scale 1 to 6 inches,

and on the other with an Irish pound to guinea conversion table. Inside the case is an ink bottle and compartment for pens. Engraved crest to one end. Weight 78 grams, 2.5 troy ounces. Length 15.5 cms. Width 2 cms. Unmarked silver. Circa 1800.

Between 1701 and 1826 the Irish pound was fixed at 13 Irish pounds = 12 pounds sterling making it quite a hefty calculation to convert guineas into Irish pounds.

An excellent full set of sterling silver chess pieces with silver and gilt finish. Classical design. Complete with stone playing board and carrying case. 5961. Georgian Silver Shooting Flask

Of hunting interest. An antique sterling silver drinks flask of tapering oval design having a screw cap and inner silver mounted cork. To one side there is an atmospheric countryside scene showing a gentleman shooting a rifle and accompanied by his retriever dog. The scene is excellently executed with the figure in full hunting apparel (with various bags around his shoulder) and the background rich with naturalistic detail. The other side is deeply chased with flower, scroll and leaf detail and has an engraved crest with faint traces of old fashioned script below, probably the name of the original owner. Weight 223 grams, 7.17 troy ounces. Length 19.25 cms. Width 8 cms. London 1816. Maker Charles Price.

A large and impressive Chinese silver circular tray with applied dragons and bamboo border. To the centre there is a large hand engraved dragon. Standing on 3 ball feet. 6816. Pair of Antique Chinese Silver Dishes

A very unusual pair of antique Chinese silver tazzas. Excellent quality and workmanship. The top plates have gadroon borders studded with flower motifs and the central part is split into segments with dragons, bamboo and chrysanthemum flowers. The pierced detail is superb. Large and heavy. Weight 1313 grams, 42.2 troy ounces. Height 11 cms. Diameter of top 23 cms. Marked around the base with Chinese silver marks for Wang Hing. Circa 1900.

A good size antique silver bowl with pretty embossed decoration of chrysanthemum flowers all round. Lovely quality and weight. The hand beaten finish of the background is particularly fine. A large and heavy Chinese silver bowl with hammered finish and gilt inside. Excellent quality workmanship. The applied decoration with mixed metals has an underwater theme with seaweed, crabs, shells and reeds. Very good gauge silver. Weight 1243 grams, 39.9 troy ounces. Height 9.5 cms. Diameter 24 cms. Stamped underneath with Chinese characters. High grade silver. Probably circa 1970.

6601. Pair of Vintage Silver and Enamel Egg Condiments – Anthony Elson

A stunning pair of sterling silver salt and pepper shakers in the form of boiled eggs sitting in silver egg cups. These are life size and very realistic. The white egg shells are decorated in white enamel. By the sought after modern silversmith Anthony Elson who’s pupil was Gerald Benney. The eggs have a bayonet fitting at the bottom, they unscrew from their egg cups and the inside of the salt shaker is gilded. They still have the original patination but could be polished to a bright silver finish if wanted. Weight 272 grams, 8.7 troy ounces. Height 11 cms. Diameter 4.25 cms. London 1979. Maker Anthony Elson.

An attractive antique silver toothpick holder in the form of a lady in classical clothing holding up a bouquet of flowers. On top of the flowers are the little holes to put the toothpicks. 6606. Vintage Silver Plate and Glass Elephant Decanter

A funky collectors item. An unusual decanter in the form of an elephant. The top, in silver plate, is formed as the elephant’s head with ivory tusks. The crackleware glass base is cleverly formed in the shape of the elephant’s body with handle and tail. Height 20.5 (24 cms to top of trunk). Spread 21 cms. Circa 1930. Unmarked.

1886. Novelty Silver Plated Honey Bee by Mappin and Webb

Attractive honey dish in the form of a honey bee. The wings lift to reveal the honey held in the glass body. Height 8 cms high Width 9 cms at the back of the wing. Length 20 cms from the tip of the feelers to the back of the glass. Electroplated. These are usually made by Mappin and Webb with full marks to the base of the wings and body. Circa 1920.
