Silver Drinks Set

5752. Monumental Antique Drinks Set by Elkington

Museum quality. A magnificent antique drinks set consisting of a silvered and gilded electrotype and engraved glass wine jug, charger & six goblets.

The large wine flagon is spectacularly engraved with panels depicting the Four Seasons. Height 38 cms. Full Elkington stamps.

The charger has a panel of cherubs in the centre surrounded by an outer border with 6 panels of outstretched maidens with bulls, rams, lobster and fish. Diameter 54 cms. Elkington plaque on the back.

The 6 goblets have panels of cherubs. Height 13.5 cms. Elkington stamps below with Elkington date mark for “O” for 1875.

5669. Victorian Silver Wine Jug with Hunting Scene

A tall and very finely decorated antique sterling silver wine ewer with a large figural scene to the front, 2 empty cartouches and all standing on a cast rococo base. The courtyard scene is very unusual having 2 horses waiting to be saddled, a huntsman with a gun, a boy playing with a dog and in the distance a man holding a falcon. Weight 1032 grams, 33.1 troy ounces. Height 37 cms (to top of handle). London 1847. Maker Joseph and George Angell.

A tall and slender antique sterling silver wine ewer with fine quality engraving of flowers, leaves and scrolls. The shaped handle is modelled as a grape vine with grapes and leaves. Original gilt interior. To the front there is a presentation inscription dated 1856. Weight 818 grams, 26.3 troy ounces. Height 36 cms. London 1854. Maker Barnard Brothers.

A tall and shapely antique sterling silver wine ewer with good quality engraving and original gilt interior. To the front and back there are engraved angels. To the front there is an inscription in Latin and to the back there is an engraved coat of arms. Weight 818 grams, 26.3 troy ounces. Height to top of handle 33.5 cms. London 1859.
