An unusual antique German silver double folding biscuit box with engraved sides and a standing cherub to the top. The stunning interior has pretty pierced grills which keep the biscuits in place. Gilt lined. Height 28 cms. Width 18 cms. German silver hallmarks crown, moon and 800 silver grade. Maker B & Z. Circa 1900.

3508. Victorian Silver Biscuit Box.

A superb item. A large antique sterling silver oval biscuit box of good weight and exceptional quality. The decorative frieze to the body has profuse decoration of flowers, foliage and face masks and there is a cartouche to each long side, one with the date 1870, the other containing a large engraved crest of a castle. At the top there is a wheat sheaf finial. The base is supported on 4 claw feet. Weight 48 troy ounces approx. Height 21 cms. Lid measures – length 19 cms, width 14 cms. Base measures length 31 cms, width 19 cms. London 1869. Maker Barnard Brothers.
