A rare matched set of six Hanoverian pattern three pronged forks. Lovely early English style. Each with a matching hand engraved crest to the reverse. One spoon is by David Willaume I, George I reign and made from Britannia* standard silver. The others are from George II reign and made from sterling silver 925 grade. Total weight 372 grams, 11.9 troy ounces. Length 18.5–19 cms (some variation). Mixed dates 1713-1744. Mixed makers, some unidentified. Table silver of this date was stamped with “up the handle” silver marks which were punched on the thin central part of the handle and it is not unusual that these stamps are distorted or badly struck and difficult to read.

Lovely plain shape with a curved spout and engraved decoration to the upper body. The lid has a concentric circle decoration and inside there are some hand engraved marriage initials. Generally speaking bullet teapots were only made during the George II period. Weight 420 grams, 13.5 troy ounces. Height 12.5 cms. Spread 19 cms. Newcastle 1732*. The body has an interesting decoration of a jungle inhabited by elephants, lions and wild cows; to one side there is an elephant, with his mahout, and riding on the howdah* a hunter is taking aim at a group of lions, on the other side the man on horseback is shooting a gun and is accompanied by his hunting dog. Weight 547 grams, 17.5 troy ounces. Height 11 (to top of finial). Spread 23.5 cms. Stamped underneath with Indian silver marks for Bombay. Circa 1900.

The sides are deeply chased in relief, the handles cast as drunken peasants perched on tree branches, the teapot and coffee pot with ivory insulators and drunken figure finials, original pale gilt interiors. The drunken revellers are drinking, playing music, playing cards, womanising; there is a mother and child, even a giant dog. Every scene is different. This elegant example of Storr’s first work is of excellent quality as you’d expect from the world famous English silversmith.
