9077. Victorian Silver 4 Light Candelabras - Price £2,250


A pretty pair of antique sterling silver candelabra with 3 arms and 4 candle holders. Lovely elegant style with shaped tapering columns and stepped bases, egg/dart and reed borders. The columns have classic decoration of face masks, shells and foliage. Height 33.2 cms (19.2 cms to top of candlestick). Width 27 cm. Sheffield 1894. Maker John Round & Sons.

Biography - John Round, Sheffield silversmith, started in 1847 with a small family workshop attached to his house in Sheffield. When his son Edwin joined the business as partner it became John Round & Son. In 1874 it became John Round & Son Ltd managed by Henry Pawson, Joseph Gamble and JB Barber. The business trademark was a globe surrounded by “All the Round”. In the 1930s the business was purchased by Joseph Rodgers & Sons.

Condition - These useful candle holders are in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Each piece is stamped with a full set of matching English silver hallmarks. The arms have small numbered dots engraved to ensure they can be fitted correctly into the holder. All original and fully functional.
