A fine pair of antique sterling silver sugar casters with side handles. Plain style with gadroon borders. To the front each has a hand engraved armorial with a boar crest. Weight 951 grams, 30.5 troy ounces. Height 25cm (caster), 17.5cm (vase). London 1768. Maker William Grundy.

Biography - William Grundy, London silversmith, apprenticed to Edward Vincent 1731, free 1739. 1st mark entered 1743. Second mark (2 sizes) 1748. 3rd mark 1748. 4th mark 1777. 5th mark with Edward Fernell 1779. Died circa 1780.

Condition - Very good condition with no damage. The engravings are still sharp. Both stamped underneath with full and matching set of English silver hallmarks, the tops are marked on the rims with the maker and lion.
